Items to buy for school

Here are some Items to buy for school that are not included in the toolbox*.

Layout tools
  • 4" Engineer square 
  • 6" metal ruler
  • 16' tape measure 
  • Quality Pencils and Eraser
Specialty woodworking stores like Lee Valley, Langevin Et Forest are better than regular hardware stores for these items.

P.P.E.s

Comfortable steel toe shoes are as important as eye and ear protection, look for CSA certification at any department or specialty store. Eye and Ear protection can be found at hardware store or Canadian Tire...

What do Cabinetmakers do?


 Here at RTC there is  general convention that we Cabinetmakers or Ébénistes are a peculiar bunch.

I'm sure you may have an idea from our title what we do.
For example: a cabinetmaker makes cabinets or does woodwork.
Correct.

But cabinets are also sold in big box stores and people can assemble them themselves.
Also what exactly is woodwork and how many woodworkers are really needed these days with so much manufacturing done overseas?
 

So you may not be sure in today's modern world, what a cabinetmaker actually does?
Furthermore, What do I need to learn to enter into the field of Cabinetry?
